Married young

My husband and I got married when we were 22 years old on May 29th 2009. We met on October 13th 2007 and knew each other for less than a week before we started dating.
Less than a month after dating is when the “I love you” happened. We got engaged on our 1 year anniversary, and married 7 months later.
We were so young and in love and sure of our selves. Our 22 year old selves did not have a clue about life.
It is now 6 years later and I wish I could say it has been easy but it hasn’t. Not easy but so worth it. Over the past 6 years we’ve grown up a lot together and have experienced so much life together.
We went from switching off weekends in my dorm or in his barracks, to our first little 1 bedroom apartment. That 1 bedroom apartment across the street from my college is where our married life together began. We were young kids trying to start our life together and figure out what it meant to be adults.

We had minimal furniture, minimal food, and minimal money but we were in love. We were living off of my financial aid money from school and his E4 sailor paycheck and we thought life was great. Eating hamburger helper and top ramen for dinner most nights, partying way too much and drinking alcohol that only comes in a plastic bottle (yuck!). Ditching class just to be able to hangout with my husband for a few hours longer. We were young and in love and married.

Things have changed in the last 6 years and we have grown together. We’ve gone from those 2 careless kids, to responsible (at least trying to act responsible) adults with kids of our own. We’ve gone from our tiny 1 bedroom apartment to our 4 bedroom house.
Our life 6 years ago from our life now is not any better or any worse. Weather we are in that 1 bedroom apartment just the 2 of us or in our now home with our 2 beautiful girls our love has always been the same.
We got married at only 22 years old. We may not have had a lot of other things but we were in love. It has been amazing to “grow up” with this man that I call my husband. We went through a deployment together, I graduated college, we moved cities, we had a baby, I started working, he got out of the military, we had another baby, he started a new job and started his own business.

Experiencing life and growing up with my husband has been difficult at times but so worth it. I love sharing all of our important milestones together and learning about life with him. Yeah we got married young but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We were in love, and still are 6 years later.
One of our first dates 2007.

Calli's 2nd Birthday

We really love having parties in our family so when it was time for Calli's 2nd birthday it was never a question of whether or not she would have a party. We decided to go with a Doc McStuffins theme because she absolutely loves that show and to be completely honest I kind of love the show too.
In the cartoon the main character is a doctor to stuffed animals and toys so we took the doctor theme and ran with it. Calli absolutely loved the party and I think her guest did too.

I loved planning this party and a lot of the stuff was DIY. Im not the craftiest person but i really enjoyed putting the party together and thinking of all the Doc stuff.

I made the cupcake stand using cardboard, wrapping paper, tulle, cans, scrapbook paper, and beads.
I got the cupcake topper printable from etsy. Home made cupcakes.

Docs pharmacy:
asprin-jelly beans
vitamins- m&ms
an apple a day keeps the doc away- carmel apple pops
thermometer- licorice
kisses for the boo boos- hershey kisses
cotton balls- cotton candy
bandaids- wafers
cough syrup- pink lemonade

Party favors are simple purple paper bags that the guest could fill up with candy from the pharmacy to take home. "Thank you for coming to your appointment. -Doc Calli

Patient ER are a bunch of Calli's stuffed animals bandaged up for the kids to play with.

I ordered a bunch of little toddler size disposable lab coats online for the kids to wear. I put name tags on them and got each of the kids little doctor kits. ($1 from target) All of the kids got to wear their little lab coats and Calli wore her cute little Doc Mcstuffins costume.

The party turned out great and I'm excited to start planning Fallon's 1st birthday party.

Sunday funday

It's moments like this I wish I could slow down time. I swear the weekdays are too short and the weekends are even shorter. I find myself rushing and constantly in go mode that I never really take the time to sit and relax and really soak up all of the beauty of my life. Today has been nice because while randee and Fallon napped calli and I had some time to ourself.
We started my playing outside in the dirt. Calli started off with socks and shoes on but she insisted in taking them off so I thought I'd join her. It totally made me remember what it was like to be a kid. Playing outside in the dirt, getting as dirty as you want, without a care in the world. Then we put on some music and had a little dance party with just the two of us. Of course we had to listen to our girl Beyoncé. I remember when I was pregnant I would listen to Beyoncé at least 3 times a week as I cleaned the house. I thought, oh man this child is going to come out dancing Beyoncé. Then we heard the ice cream truck so we ran outside to chase it down. Calli is lactose intolerant so we each got a push up. I know, taking it way back to the 90's. Except for in the 90's I don't think they were $1.00 each! Oh well, you can't put a price a memories. After calli was completely dirty from playing in the backyard and sticky from the ice cream I gave her a bath and she passed out immediately.
I want to be the mom that isn't afraid to do things with their child. Play in the dirt and get dirty, dance with her and look totally silly, chase down the ice cream truck for Popsicles, and not mind if we both get a little dirty. Life is made up of memories and I don't want to be afraid to make any.

The happiest place on earth

We went to Disneyland on Christmas and it was amazing. Now I know why it is called the happiest place on earth. There was something so magical about being there on Christmas Day, I swear I had a huge smile on my face the whole day. Seeing Calli smiling and laughing and so excited to see all of her favorite characters just made the day so much more special. I've been so crazy stressed out with work and the holidays that it was great to have that time with my family. We are already planning a Disneyland family vacation for Christmas this year.

an update, sorta

The past few months have been crazy busy! Between working, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the girls, and trying to spend time with my husband I have no time to blog. And if I do get a free minute Im usually trying to catch up on sleep. Im laying in bed right now as Calli watches cartoons so I might have time for a quick update.
Calli is 2 years old. Terrible twos are out in full effect. Our days usually consit of a lot of tantrums, tears, and timeouts. I am totally not a disciplinarian but I am terrified of raising an obnoxious disrespectful brat. I think I might be doing okay so far because people always tell me how well mannered she is. Calli is so smart its unbelievable. She can count to 20, sing her abc's, identify her colors, and hold a short conversation.
Fallon is 7 months old already! She has 2 teeth, she is crawling loves eating and nursing, and is sleeping through the night. Fallon is such a happy easy going baby. When she's not in my arms being cuddled and kissed, she's crawling after her sister trying to keep up. Its so great to see how close they are already.

*update: this post actually took me a couple of days to write. These girls definitely keep me busy.
